Here we are, the end of the first scene. Hard to believe in earlier versions this scene wasn't part of the story. I went right into present day, many years after the war. I also like the decision I made to do a mignola-esque monster composition there in the third panel. Give a little bit of mystery and darkness to the skab.  That panel did give me problems though - definitely redrew it a couple times. Its not perfect for sure, but I got enough of what I was after.
